Robots in Law Enforcement
Introduction
This blog introduces the idea of artificial intelligence robotics in law enforcement. Around the world there are robots being incorporated into law enforcement and we will be taking a look at one example. Keep in mind that robotics are not being used on a regular basis and there are plenty of questions that leave the use of robotics unanswered such as; ethical issues, security, privacy, and human interactions with them.
Dubai
Dubai police enforcement agencies have introduced the use of robotics in cities. The robots are used for people to report crimes with a touch-screen that is built-in to the robot. Aside from that, the robot is able to speak six different languages and read facial expressions. Although the robot is able to speak and report crimes, it is not able to make any arrests. Arrests are an important part when it comes to crimes, but the police felt that it should be left to humans to do the arresting. The robot has been resourceful for law enforcement in Dubai and it continues to be used on a daily basis.
